Meet Lauren

Lauren is a young mother raising a son who is deaf. She has a good job as an office receptionist and has been saving money all year to send her son to a summer camp for deaf children. Just after making the large non-refundable deposit for camp, Lauren's doctor found a lump in her breast. She has now learned she has breast cancer and is scheduled to have a mastectomy at the beginning of May. Although her insurance will help with most of the medical bills, there are still recovery items she will need, including bras, shirts, and sleep supports. Our agency would like to purchase those supplies for Lauren so she doesn't have to choose between her health and her son's camp attendance. Time at camp will give her son the chance to be immersed in deaf culture with other deaf children, and give Lauren time to heal without needing to also be a primary caregiver.
