Kiana, a resilient 34-year-old single mother of seven children, has been living in an emergency shelter since Hurricane Helene devastated her home and community in Western North Carolina. The shelter that has provided her family with temporary refuge is now closing, leaving Kiana in an incredibly precarious situation. Kiana has made the brave decision to relocate to Eastern North Carolina, where she hopes to rebuild a stable life for herself and her children. We are currently working to secure long-term housing for her family, but in the interim, we urgently need $400 to cover the cost of a one-week stay at a hotel. These funds will provide Kiana and her children with a safe place to stay while we work to secure suitable housing for her family, connect her to local support services and community resources and ensure her children can transition smoothly into their new environment.
